Μπιλ Γκέιτς: «Οι κυβερνήσεις έχουν μείνει πολύ πίσω στην τεχνητή νοημοσύνη»
Καμία κυβέρνηση στον κόσμο δεν είναι επαρκώς προετοιμασμένη για τις αλλαγές που θα επιφέρει η τεχνητή νοημοσύνη στην κοινωνία, προειδοποίησε ο Μπιλ Γκέιτς σε συνέντευξή του στο Reuters. Ο συνιδρυτής της Microsoft και δισεκατομμυριούχος φιλάνθρωπος, ο οποίος μέχρι πρόσφατα εμφανιζόταν ιδιαίτερα αισιόδοξος για τις δυνατότητες της τεχνητής νοημοσύνης, εξέφρασε πλέον έντονη ανησυχία για τις επιπτώσεις της στην απασχόληση, τον κίνδυνο επιθέσεων και την πιθανότητα εξάρτησης των χρηστών από ψηφιακούς «συντρόφους». «Δεν πιστεύω ότι υπάρχει κυβέρνηση που να έχει εμβαθύνει στο ζήτημα όσο θα έπρεπε», δήλωσε χαρακτηριστικά, τονίζοντας ότι οι κυβερνήσεις «έχουν μείνει πολύ πίσω». Ο Γκέιτς ανέφερε ότι έχει συζητήσει τις ανησυχίες του με πολιτικούς ηγέτες, μεταξύ των οποίων ο Αμερικανός πρόεδρος Ντόναλντ Τραμπ και στελέχη της κυβέρνησής του. Πρόσθεσε ότι επιδιώκει να συναντηθεί και με τον πρόεδρο της Κίνας Σι Τζινπίνγκ αργότερα μέσα στη χρονιά. Επένδυση 1 δισ. δολαρίων για ισότιμη πρόσβαση Παρά τις προειδοποιήσεις του, ο Γκέιτς εκτιμά ότι η τεχνητή νοημοσύνη μπορεί να συμβάλει στη μείωση των ανισοτήτων μεταξύ πλούσιων και φτωχών χωρών, εφόσον αναπτυχθεί με υπεύθυνο τρόπο και είναι προσβάσιμη σε όλους. Το Ίδρυμα Gates ανακοίνωσε ότι σχεδιάζει να διαθέσει τουλάχιστον 1 δισ. δολάρια μέσα στα επόμενα δύο χρόνια για τη διεύρυνση της πρόσβασης στην τεχνητή νοημοσύνη. Η χρηματοδότηση, η οποία εντάσσεται στον ευρύτερο ετήσιο προϋπολογισμό των 9 δισ. δολαρίων του Ιδρύματος, θα κατευθυνθεί σε συνεργάτες που δραστηριοποιούνται στους τομείς της υγείας, της εκπαίδευσης και της γεωργίας. Παράλληλα, θα υποστηριχθεί η δημιουργία των απαραίτητων βάσεων δεδομένων, ώστε τα μεγάλα γλωσσικά μοντέλα να μπορούν να λειτουργούν σε όλες τις γλώσσες και να μην αποκλείουν πληθυσμούς αναπτυσσόμενων χωρών. «Τεράστιες δυνατότητες στην υγεία» Ο Γκέιτς υπογράμμισε ιδιαίτερα τις δυνατότητες της τεχνητής νοημοσύνης στον τομέα της υγείας, από την υποστήριξη των επαγγελματιών που εργάζονται στην πρώτη γραμμή έως την ανακάλυψη νέων φαρμάκων και εμβολίων. Παρομοίασε, ωστόσο, την έλευση της τεχνητής νοημοσύνης με την εμφάνιση μιας «εξωγήινης νοημοσύνης» σε κινηματογραφική ταινία, επισημαίνοντας ότι απαιτείται συνεργασία μεταξύ των κυβερνήσεων –και ιδιαίτερα ανάμεσα στις ΗΠΑ και την Κίνα– για να αντιμετωπιστούν οι πιθανοί κίνδυνοι. www.ertnews.gr

Θεσσαλονίκη: 13 συλλήψεις για παράνομα τυχερά παιχνίδια
Συνολικά 13 άτομα συνελήφθησαν σε περιοχή της Θεσσαλονίκης για παράνομα τυχερά παιχνίδια, σε οργανωμένη αστυνομική επιχείρηση που πραγματοποιήθηκε από αστυνομικούς του Τμήματος Δίωξης και Εξιχνίασης Εγκλημάτων Χαριλάου – Αναλήψεως. Πρόκειται για δώδεκα Έλληνες ηλικίας από 31 έως 84 ετών (4 άντρες – 8 γυναίκες) και έναν 54χρονο αλλοδαπό, σε βάρος των οποίων σχηματίσθηκε σχετική δικογραφία. Σύμφωνα με την ανακοίνωση της Ελληνικής Αστυνομίας, έπειτα από έλεγχο που διενεργήθηκε σε κατάστημα υγειονομικού ενδιαφέροντος ίντερνετ-καφέ στην περιοχή της Ανάληψης, κατελήφθη ένας εκ των συλληφθέντων (31χρονος) ως προσωρινά υπεύθυνος, ενεργώντας από κερδοσκοπία και για λογαριασμό 34χρονου ημεδαπού – ιδιοκτήτη της επιχείρησης, που αναζητείται, να έχει εγκαταστήσει και θέσει σε λειτουργία 32 ηλεκτρονικούς υπολογιστές, εκ των οποίων στους 12 διενεργούνταν παράνομα τυχερά παίγνια από τους άλλους συλληφθέντες. Κατασχέθηκαν, συνολικά, το χρηματικό ποσό των 100 ευρώ προερχόμενο από παράνομα παίγνια, 12 κεντρικές μονάδες Η/Υ και 1 κεντρική μονάδα «server».
