Ο Νόσλιν διαμόρφωσε το τελικό 2-0, βάζοντας ουσιαστικά τέλος στις ελπίδες της Βενέτσια για θετικό αποτέλεσμα. Ισραήλ: Ο Χέρτζογκ έδωσε χάρη στον στρατιώτη που σκότωσε τραυματισμένο Παλαιστίνιο στη Χεβρώνα
Ο πρόεδρος του Ισραήλ Ισαάκ Χέρτζογκ απένειμεχάρη στον πρώην στρατιώτηΕλόρ Αζάρια, ο οποίος είχε καταδικαστεί για τον πυροβολισμό και τον θάνατο ενός τραυματισμένου Παλαιστίνιου στην κατεχόμενη Δυτική Όχθη το 2016. Ο Ελόρ Αζάρια αποφυλακίστηκε τον Μάιο του 2018, αφού είχε εκτίσει εννέα μήνες, το μισό της ποινής που του είχε επιβληθεί για ανθρωποκτονία από πρόθεση. Ο Χέρτζογκ δήλωσε ότι «αποφάσισε να κάνει δεκτό το αίτημα του Ελόρ Αζάρια» για πρόωρη διαγραφή ποινών στο ποινικό του μητρώο. Ο πρόεδρος «αποφάσισε ότι οι περιστάσεις, ο χρόνος που μεσολάβησε και η λύπη που εξέφρασε ο Αζάρια δικαιολογούν να του επιτραπεί να ανοίξει ένα νέο κεφάλαιο στη ζωή του», τόνισε η προεδρική ανακοίνωση. Η απόφαση ελήφθη καθώς το Γιομ Κιπούρ (Ημέρα της Εξιλέωσης), η ιερότερη εορτή του Ιουδαϊσμού, ξεκινά το βράδυ της Κυριακής. Η υπόθεση που προκάλεσε αντιδράσεις Μέλος μιας παραϊατρικής μονάδας, ο Ελόρ Αζάρια, βιντεοσκοπήθηκε στις 24 Μαρτίου 2016 από έναν φιλοπαλαιστίνιο ακτιβιστή καθώς πυροβόλησε τον Αμπντέλ Φατάχ αλ Σαρίφ στο κεφάλι στη Χεβρώνα, στην κατεχόμενη Δυτική Όχθη. Αυτός ο Παλαιστίνιος μόλις είχε επιτεθεί σε στρατιώτες με μαχαίρι. Τραυματισμένος από τα πυρά που δέχθηκε, κείτονταν στο έδαφος, ακινητοποιημένος και σε κατάσταση που προφανώς δεν αποτελούσε κίνδυνο, όταν ο Αζάρια τον πυροβόλησε και τον σκότωσε. Ο στρατιώτης ισχυρίστηκε κατά τη διάρκεια της δίκης του ότι φοβόταν ότι ο Παλαιστίνιος έκρυβε ζώνη με εκρηκτικά και ότι θα μπορούσε να την πυροδοτήσει, ισχυρισμός που απορρίφθηκε από τους δικαστές. Η υπόθεση ανέδειξε βαθιές διαιρέσεις εντός της ισραηλινής κοινωνίας με πολλούς να καταδικάζουν τη δολοφονία, συμπεριλαμβανομένων υψηλόβαθμων αξιωματικών του στρατού, και εκείνων που την έκριναν δικαιολογημένη, μεταξύ των οποίων πολλοί δεξιοί πολιτικοί. Η σύντομης διάρκειας ποινή που εξέτισε ο Αζάρια προκάλεσε επίσης κριτική. Αντίθετος ο αρχηγός των Ενόπλων Δυνάμεων Τον Ιούλιο, ο ο αρχηγός των ισραηλινών ενόπλων δυνάμεων, ο στρατηγός Εγιάλ Ζαμίρ, έστειλε επιστολή στον πρόεδρο Χέρτζογκ, δηλώνοντας ότι ο στρατός είναι αντίθετος στο αίτημα διαγραφής της ποινής στο ποινικό μητρώο του αιτούντος. «Αυτή η θέση βασίζεται σε ποικίλλες εκιτμήσεις, συμπεριλαμβανομένου του γεγονότος ότι ο αιτών δεν εξέφρασε μεταμέλεια και δεν ανέλαβε την ευθύνη για τις πράξεις του, ακόμη και μια δεκαετία μετά την καταδίκη του», έγραψε ο Ζαμίρ. «Η διαγραφή της ποινής στο ποινικό μητρώο κάποιου που εξουδετέρωσε έναν τρομοκράτη είναι, για μένα, βαθιά ικανοποιητική», απάντησε ο ακροδεξιός υπουργός Εθνικής Ασφάλειας Ιταμάρ Μπεν Γκβιρ με ανάρτηση στο X.
