Πετρέλαιο: Υποχωρούν οι τιμές καθώς το Ιράν αφήνει ανοιχτό το ενδεχόμενο διπλωματικής λύσης
Πτωτικά κινούνται οι τιμές του πετρελαίου καθώς το Ιράν δήλωσε ότι παραμένει ανοιχτό στη διπλωματική λύση για τον τερματισμό της σύγκρουσης με τις Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες. Τα συμβόλαια μελλοντικής εκπλήρωσης του Brent υποχώρησαν κατά 94 σεντς, ή 0,9%, στα 102,13 δολάρια το βαρέλι. Παράλληλα, η τιμή του αμερικανικού αργού West Texas Intermediate (WTI) σημείωσε πτώση 59 σεντς, ή 0,39%, στα 91,56 δολάρια το βαρέλι. Η νέα υποχώρηση έρχεται μία ημέρα μετά την άνοδο κατά 4% στις τιμές του πετρελαίου, καθώς το Ιράν δήλωσε ότι παραμένει ανοιχτό στη διπλωματία. Σάντσεθ στον ΟΗΕ: «Ήρθε η ώρα για γυναίκα επικεφαλής στην ηγεσία του Οργανισμού»
Ο Iσπανός πρωθυπουργός Πέδρο Σάντσεθ παρότρυνε χθες Τετάρτη από το βήμα της Γενικής Συνέλευσης του ΟΗΕ να αναλάβει γυναίκα από τη Λατινική Αμερική την ηγεσία του διεθνούς θεσμού, τον οποίο υπερασπίστηκε σθεναρά. «Πώς μπορεί ένας οργανισμός που υποτίθεται ότι μιλά εξ ονόματος της ανθρωπότητας ολόκληρης να μην είχε ποτέ γυναίκα επικεφαλής; Πώς μπορούμε να παριστάνουμε ότι αντιπροσωπεύουμε όλες τις ηπείρους αν, έπειτα από τρεις δεκαετίες, δεν έχουμε επιτρέψει στην τρίτη πολυπληθέστερη ήπειρο να καταλάβει το αξίωμα;» διερωτήθηκε ρητορικά ο Πέδρο Σάντσεθ. Ο Γενικός Γραμματέας Αντόνιο Γκουτέρες ολοκληρώνει στα τέλη Δεκεμβρίου τη δεύτερη πενταετή θητεία του. Στην κούρσα για τη διαδοχή του συμμετέχουν τέσσερις γυναίκες και τρεις άνδρες, ιδίως από τη Λατινική Αμερική. Βάσει άτυπης παράδοσης για την εναλλαγή μεταξύ των ηπείρων, που δεν τηρείται πάντα, το αξίωμα διεκδικεί αυτή τη φορά η νότια Αμερική. «Είναι ιστορικό χρέος που οφείλουμε να εξοφλήσουμε. Σήμερα περισσότερο παρά ποτέ, καθώς ο φεμινισμός υφίσταται επίθεση, καθώς χιλιάδες γυναίκες γίνονται θύματα του ματσίσμο (σ.σ. συχνά βίαιης εκδοχής της ανδροκρατίας), της βίας και της ξενοφοβίας, πρέπει να επαναβεβαιώσουμε αυτή τη δέσμευση», έκρινε ο κ. Σάντσεθ. Ο επικεφαλής της ισπανικής κυβέρνησης υπερασπίστηκε με σθένος τις αρχές της πολυμερούς συνεργασίας με τις οποίες είναι συνδεδεμένος άρρηκτα ο ΟΗΕ, επικρίνοντας πολιτικούς που όπως το βλέπει «θέλουν να μας γυρίσουν πίσω», στο «σκοτεινό παρελθόν». Χωρίς να αναφερθεί σε κάποιον ονομαστικά, ο επικριτής του Αμερικανού προέδρου Ντόναλντ Τραμπ επέκρινε ηγέτες που «αμφισβητούν τους κανόνες, κατόπιν τους παραβιάζουν, γνωρίζοντας (…) πως κανένας δεν θα τολμούσε να απαιτήσει να λογοδοτήσουν». «Μειώνουν τη συμβολή τους σε πολυμερείς οργανισμούς, όπως αυτός. Καταφέρονται εναντίον των ηγετών και των στελεχών τους. Προσκόπτουν τη δυνατότητα των οργανισμών αυτών να ενεργήσουν, κατόπιν τους χαρακτηρίζουν άχρηστους και λένε πως μπορούμε να τους αφήσουμε πίσω», συνέχισε ο σοσιαλιστής πολιτικός. Στηλιτεύοντας αυτή που χαρακτήρισε επίθεση στους διεθνείς οργανισμούς, κάλεσε απεναντίας να «ενισχυθούν» θεσμοί όπως το Διεθνές Ποινικό Δικαστήριο (ΔΠΔ), ώστε να είναι σε θέση να διενεργούν «έρευνες», να ασκούν «διώξεις» και να επιβάλλουν «ποινές» σε «αυτούς που παραβιάζουν τους κανόνες» του διεθνούς δικαίου. «Χρειάστηκαν αιώνες στην ανθρωπότητα για να αντικαταστήσει τον νόμο του ισχυρότερου με το κράτος του δικαίου, και δεν πρέπει να γίνουμε η γενιά που θα επιτρέψει υποχώρηση», είπε ακόμη ο Πέδρο Σάντσεθ.
