Γενική Συνέλευση OHE: Η ΕΕ θα αποδεσμεύσει 710 εκατ. ευρώ για βοήθεια σε Αφρική, Μ. Ανατολή και Ουκρανία
Η Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση θα αποδεσμεύει 710 εκατομμύρια ευρώ για να βοηθήσει τους ανθρώπους που πλήττονται από κρίσεις, φυσικές καταστροφές ή συγκρούσεις, κυρίως στην Αφρική, όπως ανακοίνωσε η πρόεδρος της Κομισιόν Ούρσουλα φον ντερ Λάιεν. «Οι συγκρούσεις, τα ακραία καιρικά φαινόμενα και η αύξηση του κόστους διαβίωσης ανατρέπουν τη ζωή πολλών ανθρώπων σε ολόκληρο τον κόσμο», δήλωσε ενώπιον της Γενικής Συνέλευσης των Ηνωμένων Εθνών στη Νέα Υόρκη. Χάρη σε αυτή τη βοήθεια, «θα στηρίξουμε τις κοινότητες που έχουν εκτοπιστεί σε όλη την Αφρική, καθώς και τις κοινότητες που τις φιλοξενούν», πρόσθεσε. Στην υποσαχάρια Αφρική, η ΕΕ θα επενδύσει περίπου 380 εκατομμύρια ευρώ για τη χρηματοδότηση δράσεων σχετικών με τη μετανάστευση, δράσεις οι οποίες επικεντρώνονται «στην προστασία των ευάλωτων μεταναστών, τη στήριξη της εθελοντικής επιστροφής και την επανένταξη», σύμφωνα με την ανακοίνωση της Ευρωπαϊκής Επιτροπής. Το πακέτο αυτό προβλέπει επίσης 252 εκατομμύρια ευρώ για την παροχή κατεπείγουσας στήριξης σε πρόσωπα και κοινότητες που πλήττονται από συγκρούσεις, εκτοπισμούς, επιδημίες και φυσικές καταστροφές. Οι πόροι αυτοί προορίζονται ειδικότερα για τους πληθυσμούς της υποσαχάριας Αφρικής (97 εκατ. ευρώ), των παλαιστινιακών εδαφών και του Λιβάνου (103 εκατ. ευρώ), καθώς και τηςΟυκρανίας (52 εκατ. ευρώ), προκειμένου να να προετοιμαστούν για τον επερχόμενο χειμώνα. Μικρότερα ποσά θα διατεθούν για την προώθηση της σταθερότητας στην περιοχή των Μεγάλων Λιμνών της Αφρικής, καθώς και για την αντιμετώπιση της επιδημίας του Εμπολα στη Λαϊκή Δημοκρατία του Κονγκό. www.ertnews.gr

Η Χαμάς «δεν περιμένει τίποτα» από τις βουλευτικές εκλογές στο Ισραήλ
Ο αρχηγός της Χαμάς δήλωσε ότι «δεν περιμένει τίποτα» από τις βουλευτικές εκλογές στο Ισραήλ, εκτιμώντας ότι ο παλαιστινιακός λαός «υπέφερε» υπό όλα τα κόμματα που άσκησαν εξουσία στο Ισραήλ. «Είτε ανέλθει στην εξουσία ο ένας ή ο άλλος, από το τάδε κόμμα ή από ένα άλλο… ο λαός μας υπέφερε στα χέρια όλων των ισραηλινών κομμάτων», είπε ο Χαλίλ αλ Χάγια σε συνέντευξη που παραχώρησε στο κανάλι Al Araby του Κατάρ. «Αρνούμαστε κατηγορηματικά το αίμα, τα βάσανα και ο παλαιστινιακός αγώνας να χρησιμεύσουν ως καύσιμο σε αυτές τις εκλογές», πρόσθεσε. Αυτές είναι οι πρώτες εκλογές στο Ισραήλ μετά την άνευ προηγουμένου επίθεση της Χαμάς στο ισραηλινό έδαφος, στις 7 Οκτωβρίου 2023, που στοίχισε τη ζωή σε 1.221 ανθρώπους. Στον πόλεμο στη Λωρίδα της Γάζας που ακολούθησε σκοτώθηκαν περισσότεροι από 73.000 Παλαιστίνιοι, σύμφωνα με το υπουργείο Υγείας του παλαιστινιακού θύλακα, το οποίο υπάγεται στη Χαμάς αλλά τα στοιχεία του θεωρούνται αξιόπιστα από τον ΟΗΕ. Οι εκλογές της 27ης Οκτωβρίου θεωρούνται αμφίρροπες για τον πρωθυπουργό Μπενιαμίν Νετανιάχου, ο οποίος έχει υποσχεθεί να μην αποσύρει τις ισραηλινές δυνάμεις από τη Γάζα και απέρριψε την αμερικανική ειρηνευτική πρόταση την οποία αποδέχτηκε η Χαμάς, αμφισβητώντας ότι το ισλαμιστικό παλαιστινιακό κίνημα έχει πραγματικά την πρόθεση να αφοπλιστεί. Ο Χαλίλ αλ Χάγια μίλησε και για τις βουλευτικές εκλογές που σκοπεύει να οργανώσει στις 28 Νοεμβρίου η Παλαιστινιακή Αρχή. Εφόσον διεξαχθούν, θα είναι οι πρώτες έπειτα από 20 χρόνια. Οι προηγούμενες διεξήχθησαν το 2006, όταν η Φάταχ του Παλαιστίνιου προέδρου Μαχμούντ Αμπάς, που δέσποζε μέχρι τότε στην πολιτική ζωή των παλαιστινιακών εδαφών, ηττήθηκε από τη Χαμάς. Ο Αμπάς, 90 ετών πλέον, ασκεί την εξουσία με διατάγματα από την κατεχόμενη Δυτική Όχθη όπου βρίσκεται η έδρα της Παλαιστινιακής Αρχής. Το Παλαιστινιακό Νομοθετικό Συμβούλιο (κοινοβούλιο) δεν έχει συνεδριάσει από το 2007, αφού η Χαμάς έθεσε υπό τον έλεγχό της τη Γάζα. «Είμαστε έτοιμοι να καθίσουμε με τον πρόεδρο Αμπάς για να θέσουμε τις βάσεις ενός εθνικού προγράμματος και να καταλήξουμε σε μια πραγματική ενότητα. Εάν αναβληθούν οι παλαιστινιακές εκλογές, αυτό θα έπρεπε να χρησιμεύσει ως αφετηρία για να βάλουμε σε τάξη τα του παλαιστινιακού οίκου», πρόσθεσε. www.ertnews.gr
